Occupational Therapy - The Special Abilities - Canada

Helping Your Child Build Everyday Skills with Confidence

At The Special Abilities, our Occupational Therapy services focus on helping children develop the skills they need for everyday life.

Occupational Therapy, often called OT, supports children who may experience challenges with sensory processing, fine motor development, coordination, self care skills, or emotional regulation.

Our goal is simple.

We help children participate more comfortably and confidently at home, at school, and in the community.

What Does Occupational Therapy Support

Our licensed Occupational Therapists work with children who may experience:

  • Sensory processing differences such as sensitivity to sound, touch, or movement
  • Difficulty with fine motor skills like writing, cutting, or buttoning clothes
  • Challenges with self care skills such as dressing, feeding, or toileting
  • Hand strength and coordination concerns
  • Difficulty sitting, focusing, or regulating their body
  • Delays in play skills or independence

We use structured, evidence informed approaches tailored to each child’s strengths and needs.

How Occupational Therapy Helps

Occupational Therapy sessions may focus on:

  • Sensory regulation strategies
  • Improving handwriting and pre writing skills
  • Building hand strength and coordination
  • Supporting daily routines at home
  • Increasing independence in age appropriate tasks
  • Enhancing school readiness skills

Occupational Therapy supports participation in meaningful daily activities and promotes independence and well being.

We collaborate closely with families because parent involvement is essential for generalizing skills across environments.
